Trips For Experts, Families, Intermediate, and Entry Level Fly Casters

  • Intermediate and Entry Level Fly Fishers
  • Family Trips
  • Expert Anglers

Intermediate & Entry Level Fly Fishers

If you are an intermediate fly-fisher you will be transformed after a week with our talented guide staff. You will have lots of “hands-on fishing & catching” experience in a week spent fishing, on one of Alaska’s Bristol Bay region clear rivers.

The entry-level angler will progress from beginner to intermediate. Success, and lots of it, will come while fishing for Grayling and Char. Our guides will help the beginner sharpen casting, playing, & releasing skills dozens of times per day. By day 2 and 3 the beginner is confidently fly casting, hooking, & landing fish. The Rainbows & Char, and the trophy Salmon are the frosting on the cake for the novice.

Family and Group Trips

Fly fishing, rafting, & camping trips with family or a group of friends are great ways to create memories which you will share for a life time.

A family trip is planned to match your groups abilities, interests & needs. You will be very comfortable in our rafts, while hiking, and at home in our camps. The less experienced participants will have plenty of support learning the essential fly fishing and wilderness travel skills.

We raft through incredibly beautiful Bristol Bay Alaska landscapes and spend time observing and photographing wildlife, landscapes, & wildflowers. We consider all the participants interests. Some want more hiking, swimming, berry picking, time to read and relax. Others want 14 hours / day non-stop fishing.

Expert Anglers

For experts, I offer my service as a specialist in Bristol Bay Alaska’s most challenging rivers. I am an expert at finding large Rainbows, Salmon & Char.

When you fish with us, we will apply two skill sets that we have previously developed:

  • Efficient backcountry travel. For the expert we will operate more effectively as a team at the logistics of rafting along the river, camping, and moving across the sub arctic landscape.
  • The skills you have previously developed searching for large fish in other North American watersheds will be brought to bear on the best and most challenging fishing in the United States. Because of your experience, you can fish the whole water column while our guides control the boat for searching casts & long drag free drifts. You get out and wade at every “choice” bar, reach, pool, or riffle and get the fly searching while we handle logistics.

Testimonials

The absolute best fishing in my life; super guides who knew how to fish & tremendous food. Jon Trachta. July 17-25, 2014. Goodnews River.
The coho fishing started strong and just continued to strengthen, peaking by the hour. There was a session with Jim Bean at "Porpoise Flats" that goes down as the BEST 90 minutes of fishing in my life bar none. Really large silvers on every cast, we spent most of the time doubled up. I'm fairly certain there were no two happier people on the planet at that moment. Bob Erickson
In our days floating down the river, we encountered the rainbow trout in its rarest form — completely wild, ferocious and faster than a speeding bullet Paul Greenberg
I have fly fished Alaska for many years and this is the best. Not only the number of fish but the quality of the fishing . John Moore
Thank you for the trip of of lifetime & for your fly fishing and casting tips, for your work, your kindnesses, and your good company! Chuck Harris. Kanektok River. August 22-31, 2014
I released more fish in the first three days than I’ve caught in my entire life, combined! Will Tully. Goodnews. July 17-25, 2014.
I told people I was going on the trip of a lifetime and that is exactly what this has been. John Gormley. Togiak River. August 11-18, 2018
I can't seem to get the wilderness, the abundance of fish, & the whole camping experience out of my mind. I have never experienced anything similar and I am addicted. Sam Carlisle
Our week was more than a pleasure.  It was a really great experience for both me and the boys.  Can't tell you how much we enjoyed it! Scott Slappey. Goodnews. July 17-25, 2014.
Just then a large grizzly appeared through the willows at the far bank. It was a great Alaska scene. I will continue to explore Alaska with Mark as long as I hold up. John Merritt
