Fly Fishing Adventures: Experts
As an expert fly fisher, you may already know your way around North America's fly fishing options. Together, we will explore Alaska's best fly fishing options as we fish for highly mobile trophy Rainbow trout, Char, & Salmon.

For experts, I offer my service as a specialist in Bristol Bay Alaska’s most challenging rivers. I am an expert at finding large Rainbows & Salmon on the rivers that receive the least fishing traffic in Alaska because they are only accessible to "expeditionary style" fishers.

When you and I fish together, we will apply two skill sets that we already posses:

  • First, for the expert trip, the more wilderness camp skills you have the less time we will spend on camp chores and the more efficient we will be as a "team" at the logistics of moving through the sub arctic landscape.
  • Second, the skills you have previously developed searching for large fish in other North American watersheds will be brought to bear on the best and most challenging fishing in the United States. Because of your experience, you can fish the whole water column while I control the boat for searching casts & long drag free drifts. You get out and wade at every "choice" bar and get the fly searching while I beach the boat.

This trip is focused on your goals for fishing in true Alaska wilderness. I use my expertise at Alaskan remote logistics to build a trip aimed at matching your goals. I am happiest spending most of my fishing season with folks who enjoy sand bars where wolf tracks far outnumber human tracks on the smaller tributaries of Alaska’s Nushugak River in the Bristol Bay region.

For experts I reserve special periods each summer to explore Bristol Bay Rainbow / Salmon / Char waters that have received only rare fishing pressure in the past 5 years.

These explorations require 2 qualities of participants.

  • A good nature to face the travel challenges
  • The physical coordination & strength to "pull one's weight" on portages around log jams and hikes up tributary creeks.

For me, I'm 55 and without an agenda of becoming your fishing guide hero. There are so many good / great fly-fishers out in the world and we can learn something from most of them. My specialty is Salmonids in remote Alaska. I am not focused on the commercial aspects of sport fishing (volume). I am focused on traveling with a few interesting people / groups through truly wild watersheds in pursuit of wild (hopefully large) fish each season. If you or your friends / loved ones choose to travel with me you will be traveling with one of Alaska's most accomplished wilderness boatmen / logisticians. Plus, all of the camp, boat, and fishing gear is the best (NorthFace, Patagonia, Aire, Simms, Sage etc. see gear list section).

If you are interested in wilderness river fishing then let’s talk further. Feel free to call me at (877) 628-6796 or email me at mark@wildriverfish.com.
